Child-centred support notes for nine sports
Use a dated height-and-weight source record for load, recovery and safety conversations. Maturation interpretation stays locked; no suitability score, selection decision or child ranking is produced.
This tool uses a dated height-and-weight source record. Create a free account and add a child to build the non-maturational development context.
Clinical references
WHO 2007 BMI-for-age reference and Lloyd et al. 2014 youth athletic-development guidance. Maturation and bio-banding interpretation are policy-locked. The tool does not score, rank or determine sport suitability.Frequently asked questions
Is sport readiness enough for talent selection?
No. It does not produce a suitability score or rank children. It helps families discuss growth, current measurements, enjoyment, safety and branch-specific support needs.
What is bio-banding used for?
Bio-banding helps assess children by maturation as well as chronological age, making early and late maturers easier to interpret fairly.
Which sports are supported?
Football, basketball, volleyball, swimming, gymnastics, athletics, tennis, wrestling and taekwondo have branch-specific movement priorities, home activities and load warning signs.
Can maturation data be used to choose a sport?
No. Maturation data may help adapt load and recovery conversations, but it must not decide which sport a child belongs in.
Does a warning signal mean the child should stop sport?
Not by itself. Verify unusual measurements, monitor pain and fatigue, and seek paediatric review when a signal is confirmed. The tool does not grant or deny participation.
