Frequently asked questions
Does Khamis-Roche require bone age?
No. It uses age, sex, current height, weight and parent heights, so it is a practical non-X-ray adult-height prediction method.
When is Khamis-Roche more reliable?
It is more useful when measurements are accurate, parent heights are known and the child has a stable growth curve.
Can high or low weight affect the result?
Yes. Weight is part of the model, so obesity, underweight or rapid weight change needs clinical context.
Why compare it with Bayley-Pinneau?
Bayley-Pinneau uses bone age. Agreement between methods increases confidence; divergence should prompt review of inputs and maturation.
Does this replace a doctor visit?
No. Short stature, percentile loss or unusual puberty timing should be assessed by a pediatric clinician.
